The Tulane University School of Social Work (TSSW) ( is seeking an exceptional Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Field Education for our top-tier MSW program starting in Spring/Summer 2022.  The Director of Field Education is a 12-month non-tenured clinical faculty position. The successful candidate will direct the MSW field program (on-ground and online), supervise a team of 3 to build new community field opportunities (locally and nationally), and support student learning and success in the School’s outstanding field program.  In addition to administrative duties, the Director of Field Education will teach 3 courses per year.


  1. Master’s Degree in social work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program. MSW applicants must have a valid social work license. 
  2. Minimum 5 years post-MSW direct practice experience.
  3. Previous experience in directing or managing BSW or MSW field programs in a CSWE accredited School.
  4. Experience in CSWE field education accreditation processes.
  5. Has strong culturally-responsive teaching skills and is able to foster courageous conversations about EDI issues in social work.
  6. Excellent organizational, management, and leadership skills.
  7. Evidence of strong communication skills to multiple audiences.
  8. Evidence of effective conflict resolution skills.


A PhD, DSW, is social work or a doctoral degree in a related behavioral science discipline. Three or more years of teaching experience in on-ground and/or online teaching at the graduate level.
