Antiracist Development Institute Program Manager (Education Strategy and Planning Manager 2)

Penn State Dickinson Law, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Antiracist Development Institute Program Manager (Education Strategy and Planning Manager 2). The Antiracist Development Institute (ADI) Program Manager will report to the Dean and will provide leadership and vision in support of the Law School's ADI platform and the book series “Building an Antiracist Law School, Legal Academy, and Legal Profession”. Dickinson Law is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager to plan, develop, and implement the launch of the ADI platform. The ADI Program Manager will provide overall leadership, management, planning, and strategic direction for the ADI educational programs and initiatives as well as the delivery of these educational activities. In addition, this position will include budgetary, fund raising, marketing and communications responsibilities, developing internal and external relationships including donors, sponsors, consultants, authors, clients, and serve on various committees and teams.

Specific duties of this position also include but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership, implementing ADI's strategic plan, developing and implementing the launch of the ADI platform and other ADI major educational programs and initiatives
  • Developing operational goals and objective for ADI programs
  • Serving on and/or lead various committees and teams
  • Developing and managing budgets to achieve income and revenue goals as well as identifying and developing funding sources
  • Ensuring grant and financial compliance with University policies and procedures
  • Providing status reporting including financial reporting to Dean, stakeholders, sponsors, grantees, donors as well as escalating difficult/complex issues for resolution
  • Cultivating and stewarding donors
  • Responding to requests for information about book series and ADI
  • Developing/Writing funding proposals for sponsors, grantees, and donors
  • Monitoring funding activities
  • Negotiating contracts and services with vendors
  • Approving ADI expenditures
  • Attaining projected book sales revenue and ADI enrollment targets/participation revenue as well as monitoring operational expenditures such as costs associated with personnel, program content, marketing/publicity, book publication, and other ADI initiatives in accordance with program budgetary assumptions/projects
  • Overseeing the maintenance, security, and disposition of confidential records
  • Establishing and guiding ongoing program planning
  • Developing and guiding strategic relationships and partnerships with internal and external entities
  • Developing business relationships with key community stakeholders and law schools across the nation
  • Collaborating with academic leaders, book series authors, and teaching materials content developers
  • Liaison with external sponsors such as LSAC, AccessLEX, and NALP
  • Supervising consultants who will perform operational and technical task related to the book series and the launch of the ADI
  • Collaborating with groups and organizations that share the core values/mission of ADI to develop business relationships
  • Working with Law School leadership team including the Dean and ADI Executive Director, Financial Officer, Director of Alumni Development, Director of Instructional and Information technology, and Director of Marketing and Communications
  • Working strategically and collaboratively to develop and implement sales/marketing strategies for ADI programs
  • Planning the book series launch and virtual conferences
  • Planning team meetings and launch the ADI Workshops
  • Providing social media publicity for ADI initiatives
  • Supervising the book series to ensure on-time completion including managing the publishing content for press releases, social media, and teaching materials, as well as managing the work of the authors ensuring they stay on track with publishing deadlines
  • Managing and coordinating the content developed by the systems designers and chapter contributors
  • Supervising ADI staff
  • Leading interviewing, selection, orientation, and recommendations for various human resources actions for ADI staff
  • Setting performance standards for ADI staff including setting activity, budget, and impact targets for staff



Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with five (5) years of related experience as a program manager, law library supervisor, education administrator, or publishing house position or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

The successful applicant must exhibit excellent written and oral communications skills and they must have the ability to interact meaningfully, confidently, and effectively with professionals of all levels of experience and authority. They must also possess strong organizational, writing and marketing skills and must be goal-oriented, self-motivated, and able to lead and motivate others. They must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including MS Teams) and Zoom. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with faculty and alumni, fundraising experience, exhibit the ability to work with external consultants, experience with starting a business, nonprofit, or new program within an organization, and experience as a project manager and/or large editorial projects.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for two (2) years from date of hire with the possibility of refunding. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
